Markovian Parallax Denigrate is a series of unexplained word puzzles posted to the discussion system Usenet in 1996. No one knew what to make of them. Between the CIA machination scenario and the simple spam, an important list of potential solutions to that puzzle were given.
In the position of “The Thinker” by Auguste Rodin facing this unsolved mystery, THD is trying to figure out the meaning of that message.
It is often considered as the first Internet mystery.
CICADA 3301 ··
Cicada 3301 is the name of a secret organization that has posted a set of puzzles between 2012 and 2016 to recruit "highly intelligent individuals". The puzzles focused mainly on data security, cryptography and internet anonymity.
In this artwork, THD appears as a cicada flying like a god in front of some messages and steps from the first set of puzzles of 2012.
It has been called "the most elaborate and mysterious puzzle of the internet age".
BITCOIN ···
Invented in 2008 by an unknown person or group of people using the name Satoshi Nakamoto, Bitcoin is a decentralized digital currency functioning without a central bank or a single administrator. The increasing adoption of this digital currency from its beginning made the Bitcoin an historical phenomenon that has never been seen before. Some people - like THD in front of the very first paragraph of the Bitcoin whitepaper (written by Nakamoto) - are praying almost religiously for a monetary revolution to happen.
Many have claimed to be Nakamoto but this mystery is still unsolved.
